Have you been wondering what to do with a left over ball of yarn?
There are many Aussie charities in need of your yarn, time and skills.
One such charity is Sewing for Charity Australia (SFCA). Don’t be fooled by the sewing title, these guys and gals take donations of everything from toothpaste to crochet scarves.
SFCA operates Australia-wide collecting handmade & store bought goods that are then packed and sent out to dozens of independent charities all over the country.
If you are not sure what you would like to contribute, pop over to their facebook page linked above to see what projects are in need of donations right now.
Items that are always in need;
- Beanies in all sizes from prem to large adult.
- Lap blankets for nursing homes/chemo patients.
- Adult size scarves in Winter for homeless.
- Teddies for kids in hospitals/shelters.
SFCA also operate a Lismore branch on the 4th Sunday of the month from 12-3pm at the same Wyrallah hall as our LCC Group. You are welcome to drop off your crochet donations at the SFCA or LCCG afternoons.
There are many great charities which request crochet items. Check out some of these below.
